Perry Forms Political Action Committee Called RickPAC

Seeking to aid fellow Republicans in the November elections — and perhaps to bolster his own chances for a 2016 presidential run – Gov. Rick Perry has formed a federal political action committee.

RickPAC, as the committee is called, will be able to donate money to the campaigns of Republican congressional candidates around the country. Such organizations are a way for prospective presidential candidates to curry support within their party. Perry, whose disastrous 2012 primary campaign was marred by a series of memorable gaffes, has said that he will be much better prepared if he decides to run for president again in 2016.

According to documents filed with the Federal Election Committee on July 31, RickPAC’s treasurer is Stefan Passantino, head of political law practice at McKenna Long & Aldridge.
